REC Group on stage at Smart Energy Conference in Sydney
Smart Energy, Australia’s biggest solar, storage and smart energy conference and exhibition, ranks as a source of industry insights, innovation and best practice for solar professionals. With 5,500 delegates, this year’s conference and exhibition was breaking all previous years’ records. And 2018 was REC’s second appearance at the event. Listeners at Paul Scerri’s session enjoyed a broad-based overview of key solar trends that engaged with questions driving the industry: key session takeaways included a look at how to get the LCOE of solar energy down, and ways to address the challenges of deploying solar installations.
In his presentation, Paul Scerri emphasized the industry’s key challenge and driver at the same time: “Many manufacturers are struggling with continuously reducing costs while increasing power output and quality. With our high automatization and fully-integrated production from silicon to wafers, cells and modules, REC is known for its strength throughout the entire value chain. This allows us to bring products to the market that exceed international quality standards, which is highly appreciated by our Australian customers.”
Australia is a key market for REC Group in the APAC region. In 2017, REC’s Australian shipments rose by 280% year-on-year thanks to a strong presence in the rooftop market and longstanding customer relationships. Following this record sales growth, REC has also made a strong start to 2018. This performance is driven by the increased take-up of REC’s high-quality products across Australia’s solar industry, and the growing number of distributors and network of REC-certified installers country-wide. Analysts and REC expect demand in Australia for solar PV to remain strong, which underpins the importance of this market for REC.
